About the Ida Tarbell Home Page

Pelletier LibraryThis site is part of an ongoing project to bring some of the Tarbell archival material owned by Pelletier Library, Allegheny College to the web. As it grows, it is hoped that the site will become a collaborative project which brings together the scholarship of Allegheny faculty, alumni, and librarians.

The Ida M. Tarbell archives are housed in the Special Collections of Pelletier Library. Tarbell's research materials for her published works, including her work on Abraham Lincoln, make up the greater part of the collection. Writings, correspondence, and notes relating to various aspects of Tarbell's life are an important part of the collection. In addition, the archive includes photographs, portraits, and memorabilia which provide a glimpse into the life of one of the most influential women of her time. Scholars and researchers who wish to use the collection should contact Jane Westenfeld, the Special Collections Librarian. For more information, see the Credits and Sources page.
